    Outrigger Club Community Day

    Outrigger Club Day

The first free Ho'oku'i Outrigger Canoe Club Community Day of 2026 will take place Saturday, March 28th (10am-1pm)!

A family-friendly activity, and fun way to meet the members, these events provide a great opportunity to see the club in action: Shoreline Lake is home base for this popular club – comprising all ages, including kids.

Don't miss out on trying your hand at paddling an outrigger, learning the cultural history of the sport, and just doing something different. (As this club is very active on the racing scene, for a peek at some of their exciting footage, check out this highlight.)

    Sail-A-Dinghy-Day

    Sail-A-Dinghy-Day

On Sunday, April 12th, Shoreline Lake will hold a Sail-A-Dinghy-Day, as part of the 2026 rollout of the sailing season and the Sunday Sailing Racing program.

Taking place from 10am to 4pm, this event is hosted in conjunction with the Fremont Sailing Club (FSC) – one of the Bay Area’s foremost small-craft sailing clubs.

Visitors will get access to free skippered sailboat rides, helmed by Shoreline Lake’s experienced instructors.

On land, booths promoting the sailing programs (for kids, teens and adults), and a display of racing dinghies (such as RS Zests, ILCA/Lasers, BUGs, Catalina Capri 14.2s and others) will be available as well. And, Shoreline Lake sailing staff and FSC members will be on hand to provide additional information.

Designed to promote sailing as an accessible, fun and family-friendly sport, the event also showcases why Shoreline Lake makes an attractive sailing destination for experienced small boaters and those learning to sail.

If you need additional details, please check out the background information from 2024 launch of this event.

    Watersports Merit Badge Clinic

    Scouting Programs

As part of the recently formed partnership with Scouting America, a Two-Day Watersports Merit Badge Clinic will be held at Shoreline Lake, from April 18th-19th (Sat-Sun), 10am-3pm, at the Boathouse, with two separate merit badge course tracks (Canoeing and Sailing) available.

Please note, that registration closes on April 10th. If you need information specific to your child’s attendance for this Clinic, please contact Christopher Rieseberg (District Executive – Redwood, Scouting America, Pacific Skyline Council, at christopher.rieseberg@scouting.org and (650) 341-5633 x114).

Also, additional customized options are available for other Shoreline Lake watersports (which help Scouts meet the requirements for earning Training Awards, as well as Merit Badges). To schedule another Scouting program, or if interested in similar collaborations, please contact Chris Nicol (Boathouse Manager, at boathouse@shorelinelake.com and (650) 965-7474).

    Shoreline Lake Summer Sailstice Celebration

    Summer Sailstice Sailing

Starting at 10am, on Saturday, June 20th, Silicon Valley's destination for lake sailing takes part in Summer Sailstice – a global celebration of summer and sailing!

Along with other family-friendly activities, skippered sailboat rides will be available between 10am-2pm. (Please note that space is limited for the sailboat rides, which are 20-minutes each, and available on a first-come, first-served basis.)

Since sailing is such a fantastic activity (ask even our youngest campers...), these sailboat rides are a fun way for "newbies" to see just how approachable this sport can be, and Summer Sailstice makes a great community-based way to connect with fellow sailors around the world.

Additional details about our Sailstice celebration will continue to be added as the date approaches, so please check back.

    July 4th Hours & Pre-Fireworks Info

To ensure Park visitors can enjoy the full fireworks display (on- and off-the-water), hours are extended at the Boathouse (10am-10:30pm). Fireworks vessel rental start and end times, plus reservation info, are noted below.

We strongly recommend making daytime equipment rentals well in advance. Also, these regular rentals must be returned by 8:30 pm, so vessels reserved for on-the-water fireworks viewing can start boarding.

On-the-Water Viewing of July Fourth Fireworks

    On-the-Water Fireworks Viewing

Enjoy the best view of the Fireworks Show, from the waters of Shoreline Lake!

The Boathouse provides Park visitors with the most unique way in the Park (and the rest of Mountain View) to enjoy the fireworks – from a pedalboat, rowboat, canoe, single/double kayak or standup paddleboard in the middle of the Lake, with friends and family.

Although watercraft are not allowed on the Lake after sunset, Shoreline makes an exception for Independence Day. Reservations for the fireworks viewing are not yet available, and will be opened later in the year. [NB! Only Shoreline-owned vessels can be launched after dark: No private or self-launched watercraft will be allowed to take part in the viewing.]

Please note that watercraft rentals for the Fireworks viewing are available by reservation only (Given previous years' high demand, and to ensure that everyone can take part in this experience, the last rental time is specially extended.). Boarding starts at 8:30pm and continues through 9:15 – ensures participants can get out on the water before the show begins and enjoy the entire show from their vessel. After the show, watercraft will need to be returned by 10:15 pm.

    A Shoreline Lake Advent Calendar

    Advent Calendar

It's the countdown to Christmas! For a little something to while away the time, we've put together an interactive calendar that showcases some of the fun activities available at Shoreline Lake: And, by checking it out, you'll not only see the variety of great things to do during the Winter Holidays, but you may end up winning a prize...

Every day from December 1-24 a new "door" opens, and each is a chance at winning four different prizes – a $50 gift certificate towards Equipment Rentals, a Camp Shoreline Scholarship, a 1-hour Skippered Sailboat Ride, and a Beginner Wingboarding class. All you have to do is submit an entry. (Don't worry, any opened door in the calendar will stay open during the entire 24 days.)

Also, in case you're looking for a "different" kind of gift for the Holidays, gift cards for all Boathouse activities are also available. Enjoy!

    Shoreline Lake Holiday Gift Cards

    Holiday Gift Cards

Need a different kind of Holiday gifting option? Purchasing a Shoreline Lake gift card can cover a variety of outdoor activities (adult/teen watersports classes, kids' programs, and other Boathouse activities, including equipment rentals).

They can be purchased online, or on-site at the Boathouse main office (and mailed to the recipient if you prefer). In addition, you can either choose the amount, or take advantage of the option to purchase gift cards with specially designated Holiday promo values, through January 15, 2025 (just choose a value below, and then plug in the associated code during checkout):

    • $45 for $60 value – code: GC45FOR60
    • $90 for $120 value – code: GC90FOR120
    • $225 for $300 value – code: GC225FOR300
    • $375 for $500 value – code: GC375FOR500

Chances are these cards can also allay the pressure that comes with giving the right gift and, perhaps, help give a bit of motivation for a New Year's resolution.

And, of course, if you're not sure what might work, we'll be happy to put something together for you, or leave it "open to the recipient's interpretation." Just let us know if you need more info (boathouse@shorelinelake.com and 650-965-7474).
